I pulled my pillowcase out of the washing machine and hanged it on the line. There I saw that my pillowcase has a tear in it. Plus it’s on the pretty side. Only had this doona set for less than a year, I should not be having issues already. Oh well I will have to make do with it. I will repair this one.

I start with ironing it flat, so it is easy to work with. Next, I cut some calico in to a small rectangle bigger than the tear.

On my domestic sewing machine, I will use the green thread already in the machine. I’m not starting a new spool of thread for this. I start by doing a zigzag stitch to hold the calico to the fabric and hold the tear close. Next, I move on to the tapering stitch. This will hide the stitch and make it look pretty.

All done. I now have a big dramatic green line on my pillowcase. Hopefully I won’t need to repair it again. The other pillowcase doesn’t match.
