I have a desire to experiment with elongated stitches on my knitting machine. First, I looked up how to do this. Sadly, I couldn’t find info in the books I own so I went to Youtube. Some videos are there. The video that I found most helpful was by The Knitting Academy.
Using a small cone of thin red yarn I got start. With a simple cast on of 100 stitches. Then I did 10 rows. Now for the fancy stitch. Following the instructions in the video. I push all the needles all the way out in to hold, next push them back so the stitch is just before the latch. Take the yarn out of the carriage and hold to the side. By hand knit each stitch individually and push the needle all the way back. This makes all the stitches even. While doing this I found you need to control the yarn. Loose when pulling back the stitch, tight when lining up for the next stitch.
My first row of elongated stitches was done after 10 rows. Second row was after 5 rows. My third is after 3 rows. This is my favorite look.

As I was going, I stopped concentrating on what I was doing. I forgot to put my needles into the hold position, and it all fell off. I am disappointed in myself. So, If you ever have to do this make sure you concentrate. It’s ok I was only experimenting. I took it over to the iron to steam and block. It looks so good.

The Elongated stitch looks good. I was thinking of knitting a lightweight cardigan with it. The yarn I was playing with is too light weight for that. I could have used it for a scarf or shawl. You could use this as a decorative edge for something. This would look nice next too a button stand.
